MiWiFi was founded in 2008 by Edward Dowling and Geordie Barker after they found a complete lack of cheap (or free) wireless internet services in Melbourne. MiWiFi was created to fill that hole, and to support the arts’ community at the same time.

Based out of Melbourne, Australia, MiWiFi will be launching it’s initial coverage area in April 2008. Anyone will be able to access the network and try it out for themselves. Over the next 12-18 months, coverage will be gradually expanding to include the entire Southbank precinct, from Alexandra Gardens, to the Malthouse Theatre and to Crown Casino.</pP

Mission Statement

MiWiFi will create, administer and develop a wireless Internet network in Melbourne. Focused on meeting the needs of the arts’ industry, MiWiFi will, at the forefront of its’ operations, work towards building the arts’ industry by providing cheap and, wherever possible, free wireless Internet access to artists and art organisations of all types.
